What Even Is ADHD Coaching?
Not therapy. Not advice. Not judgement.
Okay, But What Is it?
If you’ve never worked with a coach before, this might all feel a little fuzzy. Coaching isn’t about going back into your past. It’s not about labeling your behavior or diagnosing what’s wrong. And I am most certainly not here to give you a color coded binder and send you on your way.
Coaching is a collaborative conversation where you are the expert on your own life. My job is to help you understand your ADHD brain so that you you can give yourself the grace needed to lean into your strengths, build better systems and try out tools that actually work for your brain.
It’s forward motion. It’s flexible support. And yes, it can even be kind of fun.
Let’s Clear This Up
Here’s what coach is, and what it isn’t, at Struggle Bus Coaching:
Coaching IS:
Forward-focused and collaborative
Goal and action orientated
Able to help with routines, planning, and addressing executive function challenges (things like procrastination, organization, focus, and follow through)
Practical and compassionate
Centered on your goals
Coaching is NOT:
Therapy or Counseling
A place to vent without movement
Advice or instruction
About fixing you
Judgmental or prescriptive
Both are valuable. But they are not the same.
Let’s pause on the therapy part. Because it comes up a lot:
Coaching is not therapy. I’m not here to dig into your childhood or diagnose what’s going on. Coaching is about what’s happening right now and what’s getting in the way of where you want to go next. Therapy helps you heal. Coaching helps you move. Sometimes you might need both, and that’s ok too.
How It Works
Most coaching clients meet with me individually or in a group for 45-minute sessions on a regular basis. During our time together, we’ll explore what’s working, what’s not, and how to move forward in a way that actually fits your life.
If you’re not quite ready for a full coaching package, or if you’re craving a deep dive, you can also book a 90-minute Strategy Session. It can stand alone as a powerful starting point or work as the foundation for future coaching,-self guided or together.
I coach adults, teens, and parents-because when one person in the family is struggling, the entire family feels it. Coaching helps create smoother routines and more supportive systems for everyone on board.
